Not only Marawi rehabilitation should be given priority to the government but also the status of evacuees -Sen Angara

A senator yesterday called on government agencies to ensure medical assistance, including health services, to rescue civilians and to evacuate residents of Marawi City following the report that there are many symptoms of 'schizophrenia'.

According to Sen. Sonny Angara, not only Marawi rehabilitation should be given priority to the government but also the status of evacuees because many of them are discouraged and can lead to a mental disorder.

"Let's aggressively address the well-being of the evacuees. It is more important to rebuild their souls more than the buildings downtown.

When souls are broken, there is no rehabilitating a city because a city is its people, "Angara said.

In a recent senator report, approximately 2,500 evacuees have shown symptoms of schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a type of mental disorder, some of which are symptoms of false beliefs, fuzzy or confused thoughts, hearing a voice that is not heard by other people and lacking in motivation.

The evacuees have not been able to cure the symptoms of these symptoms, according to Marawi Crisis Management Committee spokesperson Zia Alonto Adiong. They are inadequate for psychiatrists to look into the victims.
